Merck Ltd. was established in Thailand  in 1991 as a joint-venture between Merck KGaA, Germany and B. Grimm (Thailand), and as a further expansion of the Merck Group, a leading research-oriented pharmaceutical and chemical company in Germany.

Since its foundation, Merck Ltd. Thailand, whose main activity is marketing the pharmaceutical and chemical products of Merck KGaA and associated companies, has shown rapid business growth. Today, Merck Ltd. Thailand has established itself as one of the leading suppliers of pharmaceuticals and chemicals to hospitals, institutions, and the industry in Thailand .

The Merck Group conducts its internationally-oriented business in the two business sectors of Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals organized in different divisions. There are  companies operating for Merck in 67 countries, with employees totaling about 40,000 worldwide.
